Innovation is sweet success in this business and when top flight entrepreneurs let their minds run you typically get great results. To be successful in this business requires you to have a sharp mind, open to unique opportunity and the ability to recognize opportunity even when it can’t be seen.

I recently had the great pleasure to speak with Mark Tully, founder and CEO of GoFishRecruiting.com. “Go Fish is an online candidate and job exchange exclusively for recruiters.” It gives recruiters the opportunity to connect with candidates and job orders across all industries with a global reach. It’s truly an open network for recruiters with the drive to make money. It’s a very simple tool to grasp, the design is slick and the members are serious recruiters looking to connect with other serious recruiters.

It’s a free service at this time, so I definitely recommend taking a quick moment to become a member Free! As an independent or split based recruiter I think you’ll find this program to be very beneficial to your bottom line.

As a recruiter looking to market your candidates, you’ll have the opportunity to upload, create profiles and market as many candidates as you wish. The same is true for job openings. It’s a fee based arrangement between both recruiters with $0 from the fee or transaction ever going to the Go Fish site. You keep the entire split.

As with any candidate placement opportunity, the better the quality of talent the more interest you will draw. According to Mark “The average fee for recruiters on Go Fish is $18,000.” If you do the math this would net you $54,000 additional revenue per year if you were to place just 1 candidate every 2 months. You can’t beat it. It’s innovative, it’s fun and best of all it’s profitable.

In the end 4 great opportunities exist:

Market unlimited candidates and jobs

Find and connect with great candidates and jobs

Network with great recruiters creating strong split partnerships

Save time and make more placements

Sound good? I thought it did, so I took GoFishRecruiting.com for a spin. Here’s a 3 minute demo of how I see it:

If you’re Mark Zuckerberg your answer would be Wikipedia.

Yesterday, insidefacebook.com’s Justin Smith posted a great interview with the CEO of Facebook discussing were Facebook is today and where he envisions his brainchild in the future. This posting is different than normal but the interview seemed to make a lot of sense to me. Normally, I’m the guy that says “Man, why didn’t I think of that” when I hear about Facebook being developed in a college dorm. It’s a great interview but one comment really stood out to me that I wanted to share with everyone.

“The biggest one that we are pushing is Facebook has people’s real identity. You are yourself on Facebook. You connect to your real friends, they’re real relationships. You put in real information, it’s really you.”

It’s interesting to me because it’s what we all talk about each day, but how many of us actually put ourselves out there? We talk about transparency, authenticity, helping and giving back to your network, but how many of us actually do this on daily basis? Do you practice what you preach? This is a thought that runs through my mind almost daily.

As I read the interview I couldn’t help but think that this kid has revolutionized the world we live in. He given us the motivation and creativity that we somehow couldn’t find before Facebook. Before you laugh at me here, think about it like this. How many of you reading this posting today would be in the position or role that you are currently in had Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn (among others) not come along? Would you be Blogging? Presenting? What about the 300 Webinar’s on recruiting with Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter? What would these people be doing?

I know it’s changed my role. I’ve met a lot of people offline that I had originally met online since I’ve joined the mobile revolution. It’s an amazing experience when things work out and you connect with someone half way around the world from you, speak with them about an idea they have and help them to realize their dream. Maybe that’s why I bought into this game so deeply, but I’m curious to learn your thoughts on these feelings.

Leave a comment and let us know your thoughts. What would you be doing if Facebook never was…and what site do you visit most outside of Facebook?

This takes a lot of information.

Using middlespot, a recruiter can search for information and build a workpad around an individual candidate. This workpad can contain a candidate’s linkedin bio page, some information about their previous company, and other appropriate and relevant web content (like a family blog). This information can be shared with the recruiting company, giving them a deeper perspective of this potential candidate. Also, each item in the workpad can have a recruiter’s personal annotations, highlighting positives and concerns that are revealed through each piece of information.

In servicing the candidate, a recruiter can do a similar thing. They can assemble information about the company or companies the candidate is considering, its location, some press releases and even the employees that the candidate would work with. As a recruiter, you are providing a candidate with the most comprehensive overview of their options and opportunities.

And as you discover additional information for either the candidate or the recruiting company, you can simply add a new result to a workpad and it automatically updates the workpad the client is using. You can also see statistics as to how often a workpad has been viewed by a client.

So, by now you should probably be in the know that I am a search junkie and any tool that will shave 10 seconds off of my time is a tool for me. That is why I decided to write about www.middlespot.com. Middlespot is a great tool to use to conduct research. The website itself states that it is geared toward teachers, Liberians and researchers, but with a little creativity you can use this puppy to recruit!

Have you ever used Bookmarklets or social bookmarking sites? I have, and the issues I have with these sites are that my bookmarks and notes I have placed on them are public! With Middlespot your bookmarks and all notes attached are private unless you specify different.

So the look is similar to ordinary search engines but the cool little ditty about Middlespot is that you immediately see snapshots of your results on the right side of the page. You can zoom, browse and tag any of these results without ever going into the site wasting valuable search time.

The search engine uses what is called “workpads.” Workpads are also known as “Clip Boards.” These spaces or workpads are used to store the results you are looking to research. You can revisit these results at anytime or even share these results to specific users. So if you are in a research group looking to build some critical intelligence on competitors or candidates you can all dump the information found into one workpad, tag with the appropriate notes or thought process as to why you saved the site and review the findings amongst your team only.

Just another quick tool to add to the box. A minute shaved is a minute earned. A minute earned is another day you are employed in the worst economic recession we have known! Happy sourcing till next time…
